Language School

Sustainable Bolivia provides a Language School, a high-quality training for students of all levels and ages. Standard instruction is private, allowing for a tailor-made curriculum to meet the needs of each student.

Study Spanish in Bolivia

Teaching is balanced between the areas of writing, reading, and grammar; however we place special emphasis on developing conversation skills. In addition to learning Spanish from a textbook, we incorporate topics such as Bolivian history, religion, and current social/political issues into the curriculum. Students also have the opportunity to explore Riberalta accompanied by their language professor.

As a registered non-profit all the proceeds from our language school are reinvested to help support the work of our organization. Our professors receive a sustainable living salary, allowing us to employ the most qualified teachers.

We offer two types of study programs, allowing the student to attend classes which suit their availability and needs: Intensive Language Program or our Individualized Program.

Intensive Language Program

Our intensive language program provides 20 hours per week (4 hours per day) of one-to-one instruction. Classes take place between 8:00 AM to 12.00 PM, as well as 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM, allowing students to choose between classes in the mornings or afternoons.  The price for intensive classes is 60 Bolivianos, approximately $8.5 an hour.

We can organize group classes, however, most students choose private classes as they are seen as the most effective way to learn the language. If you wish to take classes outside the stated itineraries, let us know, and we will try our best to create a schedule that works for you.

Individualized Program

SB students can also determine their own language study program.  The same schedule applies, you can choose to attend classes between 8:00 AM to 12.00 PM, as well as 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The minimum requirement is two hours per day, however many days you wish to study per week. We’ll work around busy personal schedules to provide language instruction at your convenience. The price for our individualized classes is 70 Bolivianos, approximately $10 an hour.

Other Languages

In additional to Spanish, Sustainable Bolivia provides high-quality instruction in Cavineño, Chacaobo and Esse Ejja. All SB professors are native speakers with amble experience.  SB works alongside professors, graduate students, volunteers, and anyone else interested in learning these indigenous languages of the Americas.
