Documentaries – Film Project

The Sustainable Bolivia Film Project was conceived in early 2009 with the goal of making a series of short documentaries which highlight the work of our partner organizations.

Much of the work being done by our partners is unknown outside the small sphere within which they operate, and these documentaries are a useful tool to tell the story of their origins, aims and methods. Furthermore, the act of making a documentary is also a project in itself; a chance to involve the community in the process of constructing an archive which will then be presented to its various members and kept as a memory for future generations.

Through a medium which extends beyond conventional outreach models, these documentaries are used for both fundraising and informative purposes. They provide both a voice for personal stories and a method of bringing abstract issues to life.

Energetica seeks to improve the quality of life of rural and marginal urban populations by promoting development through the rational use of energy. At present, only 17.2% of rural families have access to energy sources. Energetica aims to change this by offering alternatives such as solar power which would cover up to 98% of a family’s energy needs. Since 1993, Energetica has implemented over 100 projects in all the departments of Bolivia, and between 1999 and 2001 10,572 families directly and 68,657 families indirectly benefited from one of their established projects.

The Central de Apoyo Integral Carcelario y Comunitario (CAICC ) serves children and adolescents who parents are either incarcerated or have migrated to other countries to search for economic opportunities. CAICC offers children a space in which they can grow and help them develop their self-esteem and discover their potential. CAICC offers recreational activities, a balanced diet, and sees that children attend school.
