SB’s general fee per month is $800 USD to cover the costs of food, lodging, and our on site staff. We request that volunteers make a commitment of at least a month, so our flat fee to begin with is $800 (for researchers, if your research period is significantly less than a month, this price can be negotiated). Stays beyond a month will cost $200 per week. 

Included in this fee are:

Shared accommodation (screened cabins with a bed, mosquito net, a pillow, sheets, towels, and some storage space). Some cabins have electricity, some don’t. Cabins are co-ed, but if you have different needs, please let us know. An individual cabin can also be arranged for an extra fee sometimes. There are no fans or AC in the cabins.

Food- the food eaten on the reserve is mostly fresh and local (ex>quinoa, rice, fresh fruit and veg, beans, lentils). Food served is vegetarian. 5 days a week a cook prepares lunch and dinner. Volunteers are responsible for preparing their food using the fully stocked kitchen for breakfast and on weekends.

Electricity and Starlink internet in the office. These are generally reliable but do falter occasionally as we run on solar power.

Bottled drinking water. 

Support for your chosen project. Often either the site manager or the director are onsite at the reserve. This may include jungle guides, boat rides, trail access, use of research equipment, transport to and from project sites, as appropriate. 

Shared living and office space. Desks and comfortable chairs are both located in the office. There are fans in the office. 

Shared bathroom (flush toilets) and shower facilities. 

Visa support: if you need to renew your visa after a month or need advice on how best to enter the country, SB can provide advice. We can also support purchasing flights from Ecojet. 

Organizational support: food is purchased and brought to the reserve for you every other day. Maintenance and cleaning staff are available onsite. 

Other basic necessities: cooking fuel in the kitchen, toilet paper, mosquito coils, lighters or matches, candles.

Sustainable Bolivia does not profit off this fee. The fee works out to about $27 per day, which covers the expenses of hosting a volunteer or researcher. Depending on the season and variable prices, sometimes this fee does not quite cover the cost Sustainable Bolivia incurs to host a volunteer.

Inclusions for volunteers staying in Riberalta at a homestay are slightly different, but your homestay will cover the essential things you need for a comfortable stay. 

If you chose to stay at our apartment in Riberalta, meals are not included. The volunteer would be reponsible for buying and preparing food. Most volunteers only stay in the apartment in town on the weekends when visiting Riberalta. No extra fee is incurred for staying in the aparment on the weekends for volunteers staying on the reserve.
